A Step into the Third Dimension - Behind the Scenes...

So here's a few sneak peeks of our recent shoot with Jack Hudson for A Step Into The Third Dimension.

A couple of months back Jack came up to our studio. We combined our talents and created some vibrant life-sized illustrations. It was a family affair with Jacks brother helping out, the Whitney boys modeling and friends being roped in to hold lights and grab a paint brush!

This project is the first of many and our next collaboration 'Mock 'N' Roll' is being exhibited in Leeds at  the 'Leeds Gallery' from the 27th of April... more details to follow VERY soon.

'A Step into the Third Dimension' is a set of experimental illustrations created by illustrator Jack Hudson and art directors/3D image makers Lord Whitney. Challenged to recreate Jack Hudson's vibrant colour palette and illustration style into 3D, the 3 artists used real people and a selection of hand-rendered props to create a series of playfully staged eccentric photographs'

Mock 'N' Roll

Illustrator Jack Hudson has once again teamed up with 3D image-making duo Lord Whitney, this time to produce a body of work inspired by the most vibrant, iconic, and downright weird record covers in history.

Jack and Lord Whitney have created an entire back catalogue of LP cover designs for a series of fictitious musical artists.

This exhibition will launch you into a sonic time warp where only the best bits from an era rich in music and visuals are permitted. Doves will cry. Hair will spontaneously perm.

This feast for the senses will be equally delicious to eyes and ears, with established musical artists penning original songs inspired by these outré artworks.

Expect the private view to bring a touch of Club Tropicana to Leeds, complete with colour, music, and exotic fruit-based beverages. Just remember to remove your rose tinted aviators, and you may be able to spot some of the ‘real’ superstars themselves…

Paint Pots and Curiosities....

We recently had the fabulous photographer Betty Lawless venture into our studio to document our work for Leeds Inspired. Amongst the paint pots and chaos she took these little gems, it's lovely to see our little world through somebody elses eyes. You can see her full set on flickr / @bettylawless

Come back soon Betty!

The Old Clock Shop

Over the last few years we have curiously explored, built, played, painted and created 3D images, photographs and installation pieces, inviting people to discover our slightly surreal and wonderful world. Our latest project, in association with Leeds Inspired, is the unveiling of a temporary shop window in the city centre. But there is something a bit unusual about the clocks in this shop, something you'll need to see for yourself...

Keep an eye out for more details coming soon!

Studio Update

A few things that have been keeping us busy in the studio... this week we have built a jungle, made a giant egg, photographed an invisible man, had too much fun with a smoke machine and in general made a right mess!

Lord Whitney Needs You!

Hi there! Lord Whitney is looking for some volunteers and performers for an exciting project, starting next week! See more details below....

Volunteers -
We are looking for talented, enthusiastic volunteers (students/graduates) to help us deliver an exciting visual arts/installation project. The project is supported by Leeds Inspired (Leeds City Council) and includes building a Lord Whitney interactive installation in a city centre window, followed by a launch event/exhibition. You will need to have some experience in visual arts with a focus on 'making'. We will be enlisting you to help build this installation, which will offer valuable skills and project experience, as well as add to your portfolio. You must have some availability for making between 4th-22nd February, with the event to be held on 3rd March. We will also be on the look out for some of you to just help at the event itself, so include why you think you would be good at this too!
Please email a link to your work and/or some images to hi@lordwhitney.co.uk

Performers -
We are looking for talented, enthusiastic performers (students/graduates/professionals) to be a part of an exciting visual arts/installation project. The project is supported by Leeds Inspired (Leeds City Council) and will include you being a part of an interactive installation in a city centre window, followed by a launch event/exhibition. Ideally you will be a keen, confident performer with experience in interacting with an audience/the public, and with a focus on physical theatre and movement rather than dialogue. There will be a number of short performances starting Saturday 23rd February until the event itself on the 3rd March, so ideally you would be available for regular short performances over all or most of those dates (with details to be finalised).
Please email us with your details/experience to hi@lordwhitney.co.uk

A Happy New Year from Lord Whitney

Well hello there chaps, hope 2013 is finding you all very well. Lord Whitney is back with a vengeance after a lovely Christmas break which included eating lots of cheese, watching a lot of Christmas TV (Downton Abbey!!! The Snowman and the Snowdog and Miranda were personal favs!) and playing many marvellous board games!

Here's a peak at what Lord and Whitney got up to...

So 2012 was amazing. We expanded our studio and team and couldn't be happier. We worked on some amazing projects and met some incredible people. Roll on the next 12 months, we cant wait to see what it has in store.

So amazingly 2013 already holds lots of exciting things for us. We have a brand new website launching in March! We've been squirreling away a lot of our new work, so make sure to check it out to see what we've been creating and making. We are also part of a fab cooperative who will launching a new bar in Leeds in Spring! And we are also very excited/shrieky to say that LW and some of our work will be featured in a very special magazine in March! (more details to follow shortly).

Other fab things to look forward to are working more with our awesome LW team, FESTIVALS, the sun/warm studio, new exhibitions, collecting more weird and wonderful curios, the annual revamp of LW HQ (we have plans for a mini cinema/treehouse!), living in our Tipi again, putting the ski suits away and getting the capes out, new adventures and hopefully meeting and collaborating with more fabulous creative folk!

Peace out folks, lets have you 2013!!!!!
