Hungry...

This weekend we set off to London with a van full of strange delights to shoot a fashion story for Hunger Magazine with Rankin. To say it was an experience is an understatement we had a great time and the piece will be in the next issue of Hunger which is out in Spring.

Love Unplugged...

We'd just like to say a MASSIVE thank you to anyone who bid on our cardboard guitar at Love Unplugged. The winners were Rabbit Hole so thanks guys we hope it is the start of your very own shell item collection. The guitars were also featured on the Creative Review blog so you can see all the guitars that were auctioned.

Lost in Wonderland...

Last week we were invited over to work with the students at Sandbach School to create art directed photo shoots based on Alice in Wonderland. We had a great day working with the students and the props they had created, here are a few of our favourites...

A Step Into the Third Dimension...

Last week we had the pleasure of working with the super talented illustrator Jack Hudson. Jack travelled up to Leeds for the week to collaborate with us on a really exciting project producing a new body of work called ‘A Step Into the Third Dimension’.

The week was a great success and we were so pleased with the results. Collaborating with an artist so different to us and combining our styles worked really well and is definitely something we would love to do again in the future. We are hoping to exhibit the photos from the project at some point next year, until then here are some snippets from the shoot!

Love Unplugged

Love it? Hate it? Or love to hate it... shell art is back and here is the proof! We were recently given a cardboard guitar to decorate as part of the Love Unplugged project in Leeds and influenced by the wonderous shell items in our personal collection we knew there was only one option. The guitar will be up for online auction for charity with a live event in Leeds on 17th Nov, so get your bids in!

'Love Unplugged is dedicated to supporting small charities, and raising the profile of artists and musicians in the local area, with not-for-profit live music and arts projects. The Love Unplugged team is bringing together talented artists, musicians, designers and animators for a event that will raise money for charities. The event includes an exhibition and music fundraiser, where the artist’s guitars will be auctioned. Love Unplugged will support one charity each year, this year the group has chosen The Brains Trust, a brain cancer charity that work to help patients and carers regain control, and be confident that they are working towards the best outcome for their situation.'

Old School Exhibition at Smug

Recently we were very kindly asked to take part in a fabulous exhibition at Smug in London. A selection of illustrators, designers and paper artists have been asked to respond to the theme 'Old School' and we set about creating an anatomical animal poster (in Lord Whitney style). We were inspired by the old science room posters that hung dustily at the backs of our classrooms as kids, and after many hours of hunting out the right shaped jugs, appropriate sized artist palette and lion looking foot stool we created our submission.

We wanted to do things a bit different this time round so asked the super talent that is Tommy Davidson to do us some wonderful screen prints. Tommy prints from Role Model Corporate (RMC), who are a recession proof creative arts and music collective. They offer tour managing, driving, design and screen printing services from their fab space in the centre of Leeds.
Here's the finished photo and screen print which we were delighted with! The opening night for the exhibition is the 24th October and prints are on sale at Smug  until January.

And a few peeks at how we created this...

Foursight...

Last week was the launch of Foursight's first publication VS a fine publication produced by some great up and coming illustrators. It has been greatly received by the world with features on Creative Review and Digital Arts to name a few, so buy a copy here and help support this talented young collective.

'Our first publication features what we consider to be the heavy weights of the illustration world (and ourselves). Each illustrator was given opposing word themes and pitched, foaming at the mouth, against each other in pen to pen combat. The resulting publication features ten double sided posters, screen printed covers and limited to a run of 100 copies, all in a handy 8x10" size, perfect for framing.' Foursight

Light Night, Get Stuffed!

For Light Night this year we were asked to showcase photographs from the 'Get Stuffed' exhibition we worked on earlier in the year. Alongside the exhibition we also created a taxidermy photobooth where the public were encouraged to interact with the animals and adopt their own pet for a minute or two as the fabulous Giles Smith and ourselves took their portrait.

The Photos are available to view and download at www.flickr.com/ilovewestleeds .
The project was produced by Lord Whitney, Artemis, I Love West Leeds Arts Festival, with the super Liam Henry taking the original portraits and Giles Smith with his awesome Adventurebooth!

Ellen and the Escapades photo shoot...

This week we had the pleasure of working with the super duper James Rhodes (the blind club) on a photo shoot for the fabulous Ellen and the Escapades. It was great to be back in the studio cutting and making with our beloved cardboard. The band and James were a pleasure to work with, finished photos coming very soon!

In the meantime here's a few sneaky peeks!

Just So Festival...

Wow what a few weeks we have had but we are glad to say we are back in the studio after a pretty brilliant summer! Our last festival of the summer was art directing the site of the rather splenid Just So Festival. From magical forests to peacful lakes the site at Rhode Hall in Cheshire couldn't have been more perfect!

We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped us on the project, we couldn't have done it without you all!

Also thanks to Alex Wright at TenEight Photography for the stunning photography.
